1:24 pm - Happy New Year!!
Hi all! Happy New Year!

Hope you're all doing well. I'm almost at the end of my two and a half week break from work. So sad, but it's been very relaxing. And it gives me the chance to come update this thing, which is good. Can't remember when I last updated, but undoubtedly there's too much stuff to fill you in on that's happened since then.

My main activity of 2009 has been reading. I've started (and finished) 5 books so far, so I'm on a bit of a role. Two books I recommend are 'The Flamboya Tree' and 'I'm Not Myself These Days'. The first about a japanese concentration camp in Java during WW2 and the other about a drag queen in New York. I like some variety, what cam I say.

Christmas day was spent with the rellies. Bit of drama, but there always is when you're shut in a room (or a backyard in this case) with a bunch of people you're supposedly related to but only see once a year. Oh well.

New Years was spent partially on a boat...probably not the best idea considering the cold choppy seas and the fact that it gave me a crappy flu bug, but these things happen. Yet more drama, which is a shame considering it was New Years, but never mind.

Work is going well. Got inundated with presents by my bosses on the last day of work; flowers, perfume, vouchers, etc. Nice to be appreciated.

Not sure what else to say. I've had a read over some of your recent entries, but let me know what else is going on in your life. I'm keen to catch up with people I haven't seen or spoken to for awhile, particularly any Adelaideians I haven't seen in awhile. I can check my email from work and see your responses, I just can't update LJ from there.

Speak to you all soon, hopefully!

I just wanted to say that the internet really is boring.

I've been away for awhile and it seems like there's even more pointless shit on here than there was before.

I'd also like to say that Ergonomic keyboards are devil spawn. Once you type on one you're incapable of typing correctly on ANY keyboard.

(I'm not in a bad mood. Just thought I'd better point those things out..)

HAVE A NICE DAY

Well hi :)

Long time no speak. 42 weeks between posts (no, I'm not counting, LJ told me) is really too long, even for me.

Now I'm here I'm not sure what to say. I hope you're all doing well.

Things here are fine. Not much detail to go into. Still working, still breathing, you know...all the usual.

What's up with you?

8:37 pm - Long time no speak...
Well shit. Long time no speak.

How are you guys?

I just wanted to say hi to everyone I hadn't spoken to in so long. Things are a bit different on my end, but as different as things are, much of it seems to have stayed the same.

I'm still in the same job. PA for a private company. Parents seperated, moved out of the house I've lived in for 25 years, coloured my hair 100 times, and the dog died. What else is there?

I don't have the net at home...we have it at work, but all the fun stuff on the internet is blocked...so I hafta wait til I come visit dad every Monday to do my net-stuff. I do read the friends pages, but I only ever have time to read the last 10 or so and it seems like the majority of posts are all from the same people...so I hope all the rest of you are okay.

If you have my number, give me a buzz. Would be nice to catch up.

I'm not happy at the moment, but I've learnt to take responsibility for my own unhappiness. It's a start.

Hope it won't be another year til we speak again.

xo

Hello guys.

Once again I've neglected to post for way too long. This is still mostly attributed to the fact that I don't have net access at home. Yes, I have it at work, but on the rare occassion I actually HAVE a lunchbreak, I need to email a friend of mine who's on a Cruise Ship at the moment. SO, I apologise. But here I am.

Things at work are okay. I can't remember what I have and haven't told you, but basically now I'm PA for two teams, as well as doing timesheets, archiving and invoicing, which is busy as hell.

Socially, last night Scott's family had their Christmas in July party. I suppose the highlight of that was sitting on Santa's knee and getting a mini bottle of champagne. Good food, too. And I didn't even get drunk.

Went out Friday night as well, and again, didn't get drunk. What's wrong with this picture?

I don't remember what I did for the last few weekends, but I'm sure it was nothing postworthy. Now I'm sitting at Scott's place in a towel and saturated hair posting on here before I need to go home and go to mum's friends place for a house warming.

OH, and someone drove (we assume) through our front fence. Noone was home at the time, but my parents got home to find half our front fence and gate is missing. Insurance will cover it, and the police didn't care. Hopefully they get it fixed before we have our open inspection, cos I'm sure that wouldn't make a great impression! Is apparently over four thousand dollars damage, but the weird thing is that there was no glass or car parts anywhere around.

Ok guys...well, I did try to read through some of your LJs but only got to the last 260 odd ones before I had to go...so if I've missed anything exciting, drop me a line and let me know! Email me and I'll reply from work. Just don't feel comfy updating LJ from there just yet. Paranoia.

Take care!

I think it's about time I did a update.

How are you all? Too much has happened to update it all(yet it feels like very little...). I've managed to catch up with some old friends which is always nice. There's still several I need to see, but hopefully that will happen in due time. Also met some great new people, which is always welcome.

There's some major changes on the workfront, but I'll update more about that when it's official. I've been socialising a little with workmates which is unsual for me, but was something I've needed to do for a long time. I think I'm coming out of my shell a little more...and with that, needing to socialise more and meet new people, and get to know the people I already know, a little better. If that makes sense.

Things at home are happening, too. My parents have finally decided to seperate and will be getting the house valuated very shortly. The only thing about this that saddens me is the fact that I'll have to leave the house I've lived in for 20 odd years. I have this fear that people will buy it and demolish it, and that would break my heart. It also worries me where our pets will go, particuarly if I end up in an apartment. I'm thinking I may have to rent a house just for Carly (my dog)'s sake. My dad wants to get her put down, but I won't hear of that. It's hardly her fault my parents decided to sell the house. She'll stay with me wherever I go. As far as my parents breaking up - well, that's been a long time coming. Perhaps it will strengten my relationship with my father not having to live with him, who knows. Time will tell.

All in all, I guess things are okay.

Music I'm digging at the moment; Lordi, Harem Scarem, Gowan, and Toto. Yes, I'm weird. But I like it.

If I can make it through to my next pay without going crazy, things are going to change.

I guess that's all for now. I hope to update more often, but if not, please stay in touch and take care of yourselves.

I have internet access for the first time in oh so long, so I figure I better update while I can. And while Scott is distracted by some boat documentary on TV. If you ask me, Discovery channel is only good for docos on serial killers and true crime. But that's irrelevant since I don't have Foxtel at home anyway. And since I watch very little TV.

Thursday night was rather exciting. Worked a shitty day at work then met up with Scott to GO GET OBLIVION. I was slightly worried by the system requirements, but upon playing it (after it crashed twice and we finally got it installed) it seemed decent. Unfortunately I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to give it a decent run, so I had to give up and go to bed. I'll get around to it, though. I also got the book to go along with it, which was 20% off since we got the game at the same time. Fun times ahead, boys and girls. And yeah Shane, I'll take some screenshots next time I play and send em to ya.

Thursday night I took Scott out for dinner as a thankyou-for-the-game...unfortunately the food was pretty crappy so we (read:I) amused our/myself watching the football players training on the oval. Fascinating. We had seafood and prawns and such. And beer. Well, I did. What's new?

Yesterday was particularly long at work. I've been in a cleaning mood (why do I only get in that mood at work and never at home??) and decided to rearrange my desk. This is particularly difficult when you're at reception and have to keep the majority of the desk looking clean for visitors. Also hard when you have to keep dropping what you're doing to answer the phone or respond to everyone's damn beck and call. However: I rearranged my filing system, made pretty new labels for all my folders and seem to have created some space on my desk. I have a sinking feeling this is due to the amount of crap I hurredly stashed under the desk so I could go home on time on Friday. Meh, I'll get to it on Monday. Maybe.

I ended up going for lunch with a workmate yesterday. It was a bit of a surprise since I was looking forward to lasagne from the supermarket but whatever, I need to develop social skills or whatever. I tried to invite another person along as a security blanket but that didn't work, so we went just down the road to a cafe. I made the mistake of ordering the salmon focaccia which I really should have remembered tastes like cardboard from that particularly place. Anyway, we had an interesting conversation, I had a glass of wine and opened up more than I probably should have. Just when I thought the conversation was over, she bought me a coffee and part 2 continued. Mmm. Interesting times.

Last night I got convinced (read: begged) to visit a friend after work for a 'quick beer'. After some searching (her house is rather hidden) and arriving there before her, I got there. Now bear in mind, I'm not really into socialising with work people after work hours; and I don't particularly get along with females, so I wasn't looking forward to this. However, 3 beers later, I loosened up a bit and we had quite a good chat outside. I really shouldn't judge people before I know them. We ended up watching 'Bad Taste' on DVD (A woman I know actually HAS Bad Taste on DVD...this amazes me, and I told her so at least 10 times throughout the night, much to her amusement..) We achieved our challenge of eating while watching 'the vomit scene' which makes me rather (sadly) proud. And I got a free postcard so I was happy. I also have a new friend to borrow books from. This makes me feel rather joyous.

At about 11, I left...and came back here to Scott's sister's place. Pretty much crashed straight away since I'd been fairly exhausted all day. And now here I am at 11.30, bright (albeit mascara smudged) eyed and bushy tailed, typing my ass off. I really need to charge my phone so I can start planning tonight. We're going somewhere different for a change and I need to figure out who is coming, since several people have shown interest. Highlander, here we come. Now I just need to find my VIP card.

Well, I need to pee, and a coffee (preferably in that order) so I shall bid you adeiu. Scott has just begun watching the Cartoon Network, so I may be forced to take a book into the toilet with me. Ah, the crosses we must bear.

Farewell, my lovelies.

Hi.

This shall be short cos I'm on my laptop and I hate the keyboard on it.

I got a haircut.colour.treatment.

It's short and red.brown with blonde streaks and won't sit behind my ears which irritates me to the extreme. So much so, that I went and bought HAIR GEL. This is very unlike me, since I'm well known for my dislike of putting crap in my hair. But it helps. So whatever.

I was going to start my new diet today, but then I bought chocolate. Oops. Fantails and jellybeans and maltesers, oh my!

And of all exciting news: I FOUND 'FREAKS' AT JB-HIFI! I've been looking for it forever and it was only 10 dollars! Ohmy! Excitement plus! I'm at Scott's now, so I plan to watch it once he starts getting into the World of Warcraft.

Oblivion in 5 days. YES!

The end.

Hullo lovelies.

I guess I'm becoming pretty extinct on eljay now. I just don't have the means to update, so I don't. But I'm at Fiona's (Scott's sister who we're housesitting for) place right now, so Scott has instructed me to post. I had to go through and read all you guys'es updates first though which took me..oh...an hour and a half. Anyway. Posting. Okay, here I go. Doing it right now. Ready? Watching?

I don't have much to say [/anticlimax]

Actually I spose I do. Just finished a long, hard week at work, but it feels good to have struggled through it and done what I needed to do. Feels slightly less good to not be getting paid for another 10 days, but such are the ways of the private sector, and of life in general I suppose.

I've made a new friend, Frank. I met him one night I was out and his friend came onto me. I was fairly abrupt in telling his friend I wasn't interested, and so was Frank. I appreciated that he did that for me, so we got talking and he's a pretty decent guy. Talks a hell of a lot, but I suppose that's a nice change from the quiet ones. Scott gets along with him too (to a degree) which is unusual and pleasant all at the same time.

So we went to that dancing sky thing last night. We met Frank at 8 and it started at nine, so we went upstairs to get food first, and by the time we got down to the river, it was absolutely PACKED. As in, sardine style. So we went up on the stairs of the fesitval theatre and even though we were only about 4 rows from the railing, it was incredibly hard to see. The guy in front of me had a head like one of those bobbing-head dolls you put in the back of the car. Very grr. Was okay for Frank cos he's over 6 foot, and Scott seemed to be able to see okay, but damnit, I hate being short.

Anyhow, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be, so we left after about 20 minutes. I hate crowds, so I was ever-so-pleased to be escaping. Went back and hung around for awhile...waited for friends to arrive...got annoyed when friends made excuses *not* to arrive (though some of them were valid, no doubt) and just basically sat and talked. I've discovered I really like Vodka and orange, though that's quite dangerous since I couldn't taste any Vodka in them, and basically skulled them. Didn't get drunk though, couldn't afford it. They're $5.80 each which isn't my idea of a cheap drink.

The night before we went out as well. Nothing overly exciting to report that I can remember. Was just your average night out.

I spent yesterday (after Scott left) sorting out mp3's and watching the Degrassi High movie for the umpteenth time. For some reason that made me extremely depressed so I sat in front of the computer listening to sad songs and crying for about 4 hours before I got off my ass to shower. I'm so female sometimes, it hurts.

Nothing much eventful lined up for the next few weeks. I don't get paid til almost after Fringe is over, so there goes most of my plans. I really need to learn to budget.

Oh, also, my car is fucked. It idles too low and is stalling every change it gets. It was okay while it was only doing it at traffic lights, but then it started doing it when I was turning corners, so I deemed it unfit to drive. My uncle is going to look at it today, so I hope he can fix it, cos I hate trains and I can't afford taxis to get to work. GAH.

Well, now that I've sufficiently over-posted and bored you all to tears, I shall say adieu.

Adieu.

Hi.

I guess it's about time I made an update. I still don't have the net at home, and I can't use Scott's since we're currently housesitting for his sister who didn't have the internet either til Scott got a dialup account.

I'm watching a lot of Sex In The City and doing a lot of Crosswords. I'm watching tv I never watched before. The OC? That's pushing it. I am quite hooked on The Biggest Loser though, even though David got eliminated in the first week and he was my favourite.

Work is boring.

I've been exercising. A bit.

I bought a pink baseball cap in the hopes that it might motivate me to exercise.

I really can't type on this keyboard so I'm gonna go now.

Now, for a very important and serious topic:

Who's cuter, Danny from McFly or James/Matt/Charlie from Busted? I think it's a tight draw between Charlie and Danny. Hmph.

McFly would be a perfect looking band if it wasn't for that one ugly guitarist. Dougie or whatever his name is. I guess Busted win overall.

This obsession with english boys must stop, and it must stop....NOW.

I only ever seem to update this thing when I'm at a LAN at Scott's place.

That makes me either incredibly bored or incredibly geeky. Possibly all of the above. I guess it's my own fault, since I'm the one who suggested this damn thing and only one person showed up. But I know Scott doesn't like going out, and he puts up with my(?) friday nights and doesn't complain (much) so I owe him something. I didn't even get drunk last night. Go! team Mel.

On the upside, I'm getting most of my stuff back from Scott. My 1000+ music videos. *strokes them* My 20,000 mp3s. *kisses them*

Yeah, okay, let's go with geeky.

Meh.

Hi all.

Time for an update while I wait for these downloads to finish.

The weekend has been uneventful and eventful all at the same time. Friday night was the 'girls' night out. Started off okay, but drank way too much ($2.50 bubbly is asking for trouble..) and the night ended up rather unpleasantly. In hindsight I kinda wish I'd gone to the BDO. Woulda liked to have seen The Magic Numbers, Sleater Kinney, The Go! Team and maybe even Kamahl for a laugh. Oh well.

Came back to Scott's and geeked away the Saturday Night. He played WoW and watched Be Cool for the millionth time and I went on a download frenzy of Busted, McFly, Son of Dork, Fightstar and associated music/videos. I'm probably a bit old to like them so much, but I'm still a red blooded female, goddamn it. I actually intended to spend the night watching Napoleon Dynamite and Eraserhead (will it EVER make sense?) but hey, I'm easily distracted.

I also found some band called 'Click Five'. Wow I'm starting to like pop (britpop in particular) entirely too much. Whatever happened to my Country fetish?

10 days til I get paid. Grr.

What you guys been up to, hmm?

"I really love u! Can't wait to see U! Luv u so much!! Fucking gorgeous. U r! Yes u r! My pumpkin, my angel, my love."

So, I was bored and started reading LJ posts from 2002. That line came up in the first one I read. Was an SMS from an ex boyfriend. It's actually kinda depressing reading old LJ posts you know, especially when you realize how little you've changed in 4 years and how immature you seemed to be even at age 21.

Things must change, but will they? That is the question. Onward and upward.

Happy Australia day, my lovelies.

Once again I apologise for my lack of posting. I'll use a lame excuse and just say that I spend 8+ hours a day working on a computer, so I don't have patience for it at home. Also, I no longer have the net at home, so it makes it kinda hard.

The most eventful occurance of late (besides work, which I'm officially not allowed to talk about, seeing it's a public holiday), was going to a LAN last weekend in 40+ degree heat. Not only was it sticky and uncomfortable and icky, but my computer decided to shit itself that same morning and refuse to boot up. Not good for a LAN. So I spent half the lan with Pete trying to fix it, giving up, backing up stuff on my C drive, and formatting. I hate formatting, but I guess it's good for packrats like me who tend to keep everything they don't need on their HD. I spent the other half of the lan sleeping in the back of my car. The high(?) points of the evening being drinking a slushie and buying lights for the inside of my computer. Purple! Well, not strictly purple, they actually can be 7 diff colours, but I keep mine set to purple. The shitty part of that was discovering you hafta manually turn the lights on everytime you boot up, which is kinda inconvenient when you hafta take your case apart to do so.

God, I'm a geek.

Having said that, my latest geek mission is to completely purple-ise the inside of my computer, as well as the desktop. Currently doing a Winamp, Media Player, XP theme downloading frenzy of purple-shaped stuff. Now that I'm doing it though, I'm taking a strange liking to the colour red, which I've never much liked before, Hmph.

I'm spending AU day at Scott's place. Got my period, which was rather unwelcome. I said if I got my period on New Years Eve, I was disowning my vagina. Now I get it on ANOTHER public holiday. What's with that? So I'm officially disowning it. Anyone wanna buy a preloved (oh boy, was it) and slighly used vagina?

Is it strange that everytime I go to type 'public holiday' it comes out as 'pubic holiday'?

EDIT: I realize that selling my genitals on Livejournal may be misconstrued, so I withdraw my offer. Please, stop your bidding. However, if this happens again on the Easter long weekend...Ebay here I come.

Hi all.

Time for a quick update I believe.

Work has been going well. Just finished up a 2 week stint as PA while one of our PA's has been away. Been nice and quiet, and could listen to music while I worked. Next week am back at reception. Then PA again in a week when the other PA goes in for eye surgery. Ah well, is all experience. I've also been given the task of 'whipping up' (yeah right) a company Intranet. Shouldn't be too hard, since I've done it twice before, for 2 schools. We'll see, I may end up having to ask one of you guys for help.

Went out last night...noone much joined us, for whatever reasons...work...ignoring me...friends...you know the story. Met up with Dan though, which was interesting, having not seen him for however many years. Didn't go exactly to plan, but what ever does, really?

Got a bigger pay than I expected...really need to pay some stuff, but will still have a little left over. Went shopping today but ended up only buying 2 shirts for mum. Wanted to buy Scott a book (am trying to get him into reading, and tried to lure him with a car book)...but alas...failed miserably. Wandered around the furniture shop...and the CD shop. In hindsight, I forgot I wanted to buy a Sufjan Stevens album. Oh well. I was tempted to buy 'Ted Bundy' (the movie) but ended up saving the money instead.

I kinda wanted to go out tonight, but instead we ended up dog-sitting 2 more dogs. So now we have Terrance, Philip, Dayna & Harvey. They're all fairly calm, but Harvey started a fight with Philip a minute ago, so Philip is currently hiding behind my computer case. We have our computers set up in the lounge room. I guess it's okay, staying home gives me a chance to rip some of Kates CDs and DVDs.

So. Wassup witchoo?

Hey guys.

I know this is out of the blue and a rather morbid topic of discussion for my first post of 2006, but;

What are your thoughts on the Death Penalty?

Yes, this is how my train of thought works, totally random things pop into my head at random times, so forgive me!
